Restaurant to donate proceeds to the Samaritan Charitable Society of Salem
Longboards Restaurant and Bar is generously donating 20 percent of all dine-in proceeds between 5 pm and 9 pm on Monday, October 19, 2926, to the Samaritan Charitable Society of Salem (The Samaritans). The promotion applies to the Pickering Wharf restaurant’s full menu as long as diners tell their server they’re supporting the Samaritans. To add to the festive nature of the occasion, there will be a 50/50 raffle plus Longboards’ family-friendly arcade games, darts, and shuffleboard.
The Samaritans is one of Salem’s oldest charities and provides one-time assistance to Salem residents facing a financial crisis. We partner with other local social service providers to help an increasing number of people struggling to stay afloat when confronted with unusual expenses.
We fund a multitude of needs, including unexpected medical expenses, transportation vouchers to the Salem Pantry, and even providing laundry cards so that families without housing are able to send their children to school in clean clothes. Supporting students and families experiencing housing insecurity is a growing need, as there are now more than 180 students in the Salem Public Schools who are currently identified as unhoused.
Operating continuously since 1832, the Samaritans is an all-volunteer organization and has no religious affiliation or association with suicide prevention. Without an office or paid staff, all funds raised go directly to assisting Salem neighbors in need. You can learn more about the Samaritans at thesamaritansociety.org.
